I’d love to hear from you!
The First Note
Whether you're starting out at 4 or 70, there's a curriculum out there to meet your specific needs. From the minute you walk into my studio, your lessons will be all about you - how you learn, the music you enjoy and your goals. Every student is evaluated and the curriculum chosen is customized to the needs and skill level of the student. I aspire to create a fun and inspiring educational environment in my home studio.
All of my students receive instruction in music theory, note reading, and proper technique. They will also be introduced to the basics of various musical genres, and important figures in music history and development. Ear-training and sight-reading are taught using fun activities and games tailored to each student's age and skill level. Creativity is always encouraged!
My default curriculum is Faber Piano Adventures, however I am flexible to other curriculums based on the student's needs and history. My pre-schoolers start in either Faber's pre-reading levels or TPT's Wunderkeys curriculum. I have also taught out of Alfred, Bastien, Keith Snell, and Glover, and continue to use those as outside resources. I use a great deal of extra-curricular materials to keep students motivated and interested. Students are always encouraged to bring their favorite music from home to learn or play.
Hi! I'm Kara, and I'm the teacher at Wardell Music Studio. I began studying music at the age of 3 with violin lessons. I began piano lessons at the age of 5, and continued them throughout college. I began seriously studying voice at 14, and continued that as a Voice Performance major in college. I specialize in classical music, its history and theory. Our studio is a member of the Music Teacher's National Association (MTNA) and the students benefit through the annual Federation jury, networking with other studios, and access to SAT testing.
